Diamond quality standard "4C"
The "4Cs" were established by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and are the international standards for evaluating the quality of cut diamonds for jewelry. Diamonds are evaluated based on four criteria: color, clarity, weight (carat), and polish (cut), and are abbreviated as "4Cs" from the initials of each. The 4Cs are listed on a diamond's "certificate."
