We tend to think of gemstones as being hard and durable, but unlike diamonds, colored stones are soft and can be easily scratched or chipped, depending on the type. This is especially important with emeralds, opals, and pearls.
piecesStore separately
There is a risk of scratches or chipping when it comes into contact with other gemstones or jewelry. Diamonds are also weak to forces from certain directions, and depending on how they are hit, they may chip. Please store them in a case or bag individually to avoid contact with other items.
straightBe careful of sunlight and dryness
Each colored stone has different characteristics, so it is a good idea to know the characteristics of each stone.Amethyst, topaz, citrine, and other stones are susceptible to ultraviolet light and will deteriorate, so avoid direct sunlight. Emeralds also need to be careful not to let them dry out, as the oils on their surface will dry out and cause them to crack. Opals and pearls can also discolor and crack if they dry out too much, so avoid adding desiccants.
So, basically, it's best to keep it in a well-ventilated place in a jewelry box where it won't come into contact with other items.
Cosmetics and perfumes can cause discoloration and deterioration, so be sure to put on your jewelry last after you've finished getting dressed. After wearing it, be sure to wipe it with a soft cloth as much as possible before storing it.
Neutral detergents and ultrasonic cleaning are also effective methods, but they are not suitable for some gemstones. Ultrasonic cleaning is especially not recommended for emeralds, so please be careful.
The characteristics of colored stones vary depending on the type. When purchasing, we recommend asking the staff about how to store and care for your stone.
